What location does ACP staff?

Advanced Care Providers has working partnerships with many healthcare organizations throughout the country.  We offer a variety of opportunities from per Diem (moon lighting) shifts to short (1-3 weeks) or longer (>4 weeks) assignments.

We do not give specifics about locations we staff until you are contracted with us.  Contracting with ACP does not commit you to working any shifts until you are ready and it fits into your schedule.

Will I be an independent contractor or an employee?

Advanced Care Providers works with clinicians on an independent contractor (1099) status.  This allows you to maintain maximum flexibility to work as much or as little as you wish and when if fits into your schedule.

Once you are contracted with Advanced Care Providers, we will go over items to make sure the shifts / assignments that are offered to you match your interests and requests:

  • Specialty you want to work in.
  • Locations you are interested in staffing or not staffing.
  • Your availability
  • How far you would be interested in traveling for shifts.  (Many of our contractors will sleep in their own bed each night at home.)
  • Interests for future shifts.

When an assignment is available in an area you are interested in staffing, you will be notified once you join or provider base.  You will then have the option to accept or decline.

Independent Contractor vs. Employee?

There are several differences between an independent contractor and an employee. Please see the page describing the differences between independent contractors vs. employees for more information.

Do you have benefits?

Malpractice insurance is provided to everyone including independent contractors.
Housing is included on most assignments if it is needed.
We do not provide health insurance benefits or retirement, etc.

Once you are established as an independent contractor, we always recommend consulting with your tax advisor to assist you with the great benefits that can be realized.

Can I moonlight with ACP if I currently work somewhere else?

Yes.  We do not have any competition clauses restricting you or your practice.  Advanced Care Providers has many locations we provide services at, some may be in your own home town.  Our malpractice insurance covers you during your work with ACP.

Many contracted locations request us for per Diem staffing.  If you are interested in working as little as 1-2 days per month, that is possible with some of our partnered facilities.

How many shifts do I have to work?

You can work as much or as little as you want.  In addition, you are able to choose the locations you would like to work at from our contracted facilities.  We will match the facilities requirements with your requests to make a great match.

It is possible to work strictly as a locum tenens provider year round with the locations we have available for staffing.

I want to provide staffing but don’t want to drive so far. Can I keep my information on file and be notified when a contract is available closer to home?

Advanced Care Providers is growing rapidly, but there are areas that we are not staffing yet. We encourage all mid-levels that are interested in providing staffing services with ACP to complete the application process. We will review your application and if you meet our requirements, will offer you a service agreement. By completing the agreement, it allows us to keep you informed when assignments arrive that you may be interested in.

The agreement does not commit you to having to work any shifts. You can agree to work shifts when you are ready.

Does ACP have assignments for a certain length of time?

Medical facilities often undergo staffing shortages for several reasons. These may include CME, vacation or medical leave, increase in patient volume during tourist season or flu season, or simple provider vacancies. Because of the varying length, our assignments can vary from one week to over one year.

We have partnered facilities that use our services on a long term basis.

How much does ACP pay?

Advanced Care Providers is quite competitive with compensation to its providers. We realize the value of our staffing service to medical facilities and the ultimate service that is provided to patients in need of your help. You provide a service to ACP; we like to return the favor and work for you the provider by allowing increased compensation and flexibility. To discuss more about working with Advanced Care Providers and compensation or benefits, please contact one of our specialists.

If I travel to a location does it include my housing?

Yes. We do have partnered facilities that you may be interested in providing locum tenens staffing or per Diem work at. Am I going to have to work a set number of days?

No – your work with ACP is on your terms – you determine the number of shifts you will work.

Top of Page

What if there is not work in my area?

Do not be discouraged.  ACP is growing and receives new inquiries from facilities all the time. Having your paperwork completed and on file will allow us – and you – to be ready to respond when opportunities do open up in your location.

Top of Page

Who receives my paperwork?

Your information is secure with ACP.  It is never released without your permission.

Top of Page

Why does ACP need so many documents?

Our requests are based on what the facilities we staff with are requiring for credentialing purposes, and state and insurance requirements.  The number of documents needed are no more than what you are required to already have based on your practice.  Most states require you to have these documents available in an easily accessible location already.

Top of Page

What locations are available – do I need to travel?

We have contracted locations throughout the state and in many different specialties which we will match with your skills upon reaching an agreement with you.  Travel is optional – we will present opportunities to you within the radius you indicate you are willing to work.  Housing is provided if needed.

Top of Page

What about malpractice insurance?

ACP covers malpractice insurance and will provide you with a certificate for your records.

Top of Page

How long are the assignments?

This varies – from 1-2 days per month to several months.

Top of Page

How long does credentialing take?

Each facility controls this process.  We can help keep the process moving efficiently by having all your documents on file.  We encourage you to keep your documents updated with us.  We can then maintain your file on a regular basis.

Top of Page

Can I work with ACP and my present employer?

In most cases you can, but again this is dependent on your  employer – not ACP.  You may need proof of malpractice with ACP which we will provide.  If you have a “no-compete clause” with your employer, there may be distance or specialty restrictions.  We can help sort through those restrictions.

Top of Page

Can I work with ACP and other groups too?

Yes – we do not have no-compete clauses or restrictions.  If your credentials meet our requirements, we will offer you an agreement to contract with ACP.  We want to maintain flexibility for you to work on your own terms.
